Review: Belushi Speed Ball – Stellkira (2024)

Does humor belong in music? A question that has been asked many times. Personally, I think it’s perfectly fine. Norwegian Black Debbath is a good example of how it can work really well. The problem is probably more that most musicians are not comedians. It takes a lot to be funny outside of your own circle of friends. Comedy isn’t easy. Belushi Speed Ball’s new album, “Stellkira,” is a good example of this. Or do you find song titles like “My Favorite Color Is Pizza,” “The Adventures Of Rick And Mortarion,” and “The Hash Slinging Slasher” funny? No, me neither. On the contrary, it’s annoying to hear him sing about his favorite color being pizza. The music style of the band is crossover thrash metal. It actually sounds quite decent. But it becomes a bit standard thrash without any major highlights. However, the vocals are far below par and drag the whole thing even further down. So unfortunately, “Stellkira” is an album I struggle to find much positive to write about.
