Review: Full Assault – Dying World (2024)

Full Assault is a German thrash metal band now releasing their third album, with the fitting title “Dying World”. The band has been active since 2007 and plays old-school thrash metal, not afraid to add a bit of melody between the riffs. Although parts of the album sound tough enough, it becomes a bit tame in the long run. The band doesn’t come up with very creative riffs, making the whole thing very unoriginal. You’ve heard similar music so many times before, and it’s been done better. In fact, I think I hear the midsection from “Creeping Death” in the song “Signs of the End.” I also struggle with the vocals of Robsess, lacking punch and leaning more towards a hoarse style. Furthermore, the other two members of the band have chosen to call themselves ManOwaR and Fränk the Tänk, so the band has some humor. “Dying World” isn’t bad, but it will likely be forgotten quickly.

Released February 9th, 2024 on Iron Shield Records.
