Jenner is a trio from Serbia consisting of women. The band plays a hybrid of heavy metal and thrash metal that can bring thoughts to Doro, Judas Priest, and Holy Moses. Jenner started in 2013, but the debut album “To Live Is To Suffer” didn’t come until 2017, with a different lineup than the current one. Guitarist Aleksandra Stamenković is the only remaining member from that record and has now also taken over vocals. She is not as good as the previous vocalist, Anđelina Mitić. Still, she comes close, so it works. Even though the vocals are not as strong now, “Prove Them Wrong” generally sounds better than its predecessor. Better production, better songs, and the band plays better. The band may become a bit repetitive on the most thrashy songs. Jenner sounds better when they are more melodic, as seen in tracks like “Born For Something More” and “Not Even You”. Jenner didn’t receive much attention with “To Live Is To Suffer”, but it might change with “Prove Them Wrong.” This is a band that can go far.
Released January 24th, 2024 on Fighter Records.
