Destructor started way back in 1984 and released their debut album “Maximum Destruction” the following year. “Maximum Destruction” has some exciting tracks and is an interesting blend of speed metal and thrash metal for its time. However, it all got drowned out in a terribly poor sound quality. It also became the only album the band released at the time before it all ended in 1990. Nevertheless, the band made a comeback in the early 2000s, and after a couple of EPs, their second album “Forever In Leather” came out in 2007. This time with much better sound quality than the debut. The band continued with albums in 2016, 2017, and now in 2023. Destructor in 2023 doesn’t sound too bad. There are some good tracks on “Blood, Bone, and Fire” that grab your attention. The band has also gotten a new guitarist, Mark Hellhound, since then, and it seems like he’s doing a fantastic job as there’s a lot of great guitar work on the album. However, I’m not entirely convinced. Destructor hasn’t created a masterpiece here. This is classic thrash metal that we’ve heard many times before. But “Blood, Bone, And Fire” at least sounds better than what Destructor did in the 80s.
Released November 24th, 2023 on Shadow Kingdom Records.
