Alex Nunziati, an Italian multi-instrumentalist, releases his third solo album under his own name. Known by his real name, Alessandro Nunziati, he is a highly prolific musician with a track record of numerous bands and even more releases. Perhaps best known as the vocalist for the gothic band Theatres des Vampires under the alias Lord Vampyr, he later carried the name into his subsequent project, Lord Vampyr. Additionally, his heavy metal band Malamorte has also been featured in reviews several times before. As Alex Nunziati, however, he focuses on thrash metal.
Nunziati performs all the instruments himself, mastering each with precision. The result is a full-band sound complemented by excellent production quality. His music is clearly inspired by 1980s thrash metal, though his vocals don’t quite match the high standard of the instrumentation. He delivers strong riffs and knows how to make them shine.
The main critique of this project is that the vocals could be better suited to the overall sound. They work, but not perfectly. Another downside is the lack of standout tracks, as none emerge as clear favorites despite the album’s overall solid quality.
Nunziati deserves praise, however, for the striking cover art designed by Adi Dechristianize, which adds a visually impressive touch to the release.
