Reggie Bannister was diagnosed with dementia and Parkinson’s in June 2016. His condition was stabilized for many years, but on Wednesday, February 12, Bannister collapsed, marking the progression to the next stage of his illness. While he remains cognitively aware, his body is failing. He will soon be returning home from the V.A. for hospice care.
In a Facebook post, Reggie’s friend Russell “GreWolf” Mauck shared:
“Please know how much Reggie and Gigi love their Phans, Phriends, and colleagues. Please send your thoughts, prayers, and positive energy their way. Feel free to send your cards and letters to them both.”

Bannister is known for playing the gun-toting, ex-ice cream man Reggie in the Phantasm film series. Bannister starred in the films, which were directed by Don Coscarelli, alongside A. Michael Baldwin, Bill Thornbury, and Angus Scrimm.
