Norwegian author Jo Nesbø will pen the script for the film adaptation of his crime novel Blood on Snow. According to Deadline, the film will star renowned actors Tom Hardy and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Hardy is known for his role in the Venom series, while Taylor-Johnson gained fame in the Kick-Ass films.
The adaptation will be directed by Cary Fukunaga, best known for helming No Time to Die in the James Bond franchise.
Set in 1970s Oslo, the story follows a trusted hitman tasked with killing his employer’s wife. The novel was originally published in Norway in 2015, with its English translation titled Blood on Snow.
This isn’t Nesbø’s first Hollywood adaptation. In 2017, his novel The Snowman was made into a film, though it was critically panned.
Earlier this year, Netflix announced a major new series based on Nesbø’s iconic crime detective Harry Hole. The series’ first season will be based on the fifth book in the series, The Devil’s Star, with Tobias Santelmann in the lead role.
