Being passive-aggressive might not be very cool in the context of thrash metal – but that’s what the new album by Greek band Amken is called. Well, at least “Passive Aggression”. The band has been around since 2011, but it wasn’t until 2017 that their debut album, “Theater of the Absurd,” was released. Now, the follow-up is here, and we get more dirty thrash metal with a certain melodic touch. A bit of passive-aggressive music, simply put. It sounds alright from Amken, they’re not reinventing anything here, but sticking to familiar formulas. It works as well, but it’s not very exciting either. There’s some good guitar playing on the album, and overall, it sounds well-crafted. But don’t expect anything groundbreaking either.
