
The British political thriller Conclave was among the top contenders at the BAFTA Awards on Sunday evening.
The film follows a cardinal tasked with leading the selection process for a new pope after the sudden and unexpected death of the reigning pontiff.

Of the 12 categories it was nominated in, Conclave ultimately won four awards. The film received the top honor for Best Film, along with awards for Best British Film, Best Editing, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
“It is a great, great honor,” said director Edward Berger as he accepted the award for Best Film.
He was joined on stage by actors Ralph Fiennes and Isabella Rossellini, whom he thanked for their contributions to the film.
Conclave has also received eight Oscar nominations for the upcoming ceremony in March.
