Wild Beyond is a new band consisting of members and former members from such bands as Deava, Infernal Stronghold, Woe, and Woods of Ypres. They are now ready with their debut album that has the same name as the band itself. On the positive side, Wild Beyond sounds quite different from most things you’ve heard before, with the band establishing its own unique expression. On the downside, the production isn’t entirely top-notch, and the songs are somewhat chaotically structured. It’s quite challenging to pigeonhole the band’s music into a specific genre. A bit of thrash, a bit of black metal, a bit of death metal – some of it is technical, some is progressive, and some is just straightforward thrash metal. There’s a lot to unpack here. It can quickly become a bit schizophrenic and sometimes just plain strange. Yet, at the same time, it’s somewhat cool. Simply put, it’s an album you have to listen to yourself to form an opinion. The album also features a very cool cover created by Adam Burke.
