Nuclear hails from Chile and plays thrash metal. Murder of Crows is actually the band’s fifth album, and they were the support act on Abbath’s tour before this album. The first thing that comes to mind when listening to Murder of Crows is that it embodies typical South American thrash metal. It evokes early Sepultura and similar bands, though Nuclear might not quite be in the same league. Nonetheless, the music is hard-hitting, aggressive, and heavy. The album is full of great riffs, and the rhythm section also does an impressive job. The vocals might be a bit too monotonous for my taste, but they get the job done. The band manages to add small melodic sections, and the tempo isn’t relentless all the way through. This is a positive aspect as it creates a sense of dynamics. Naturally, this type of thrash was more exciting thirty-five years ago, but someone has to keep the tradition alive.
