Inferno Metal Festival in Norway has just added Arthur Brown, Koldbrann and Bell Witch to the line-up for next year’s festival.
From the festival’s press release:
We are excited to announce more artists to Inferno Metal Festival 2024. This time we can serve you American funeral doom metal band Bell Witch, Norwegian black metal masters Koldbrann and The God of Hellfire himself: Arthur Brown!
ARTHUR BROWN
I am the God of Hellfire! We are going back to 1967 when this British guy started a band called The Crazy World of Arthur Brown and soon after released a single called “Fire”. On stage he would wear a helmet on fire and use extreme make-up – pre-dating both Alice Cooper and Kiss. Being so early he is of course one of the most important figures in what was to come later on. “A guy called Arthur Brown… was a big influence of mine”, the words belong to Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson. “Without Arthur Brown, there’d be no Alice Cooper”, said Alice Cooper himself. “We were still seeing bands come out in three-piece suits singing love songs, but this guy comes out screaming, ‘I am the God of Hellfire’. Did Arthur Brown influence Kiss? I think so. God of Hellfire… God of Thunder. The flames, the make-up, the craziness”, a quote of Gene Simmons from Kiss. The list goes on. The legend still lives on and still performs in all his craziness! See Arthur Brown at Inferno Metal Festival for the very first time!

KOLDBRANN
Founded in 2001 in Drammen, Norway, Koldbrann emerged during a time when the Norwegian black metal scene was already firmly established, but they managed to carve out their own unique niche in the genre. Koldbrann’s early releases, like their debut album “Nekrotisk Inkvisition” (2003) and “Moribund” (2006), established them as a potent force in the Norwegian underground black metal scene. Koldbrann continued to refine their sound and released the critically acclaimed album “Vertigo” in 2013. Their commitment to black metal’s core principles while pushing the boundaries of the genre demonstrates their enduring influence and importance in the global black metal community. Koldbrann last performed at Inferno Metal Festival in 2009 and it is time to bring them back to our stage!

BELL WITCH
Formed in Seattle, Washington, in 2010, the duo of Dylan Desmond (bass and vocals) and Jesse Shreibman (drums and vocals) has forged a unique path within the world of funeral doom metal called Bell Witch. What sets Bell Witch apart from many other bands in the genre is their minimalist approach. With just bass, drums, and vocals, they craft epic, slow-moving compositions that stretch the boundaries of what can be achieved with such limited instrumentation. Bell Witch’s music is characterized by its excruciatingly slow tempos, crushing heaviness, and a profound sense of melancholy. Bell Witch’s fourth LP was released in 2023 via Profound Lore and contains one continuous 83-minute piece unfolding as a single track. Exactly the same length as on “Mirror Reaper” from 2017. This will be Bell Witch’s first show at Inferno Metal Festival.
