We follow a group of former classmates, now reduced to just six people, as the rest have been killed by a guy named Tommy “One Shoe” McGroo. Tommy was bullied in school and is out for revenge against his old classmates. For some reason, the group heads to a cabin, as they believe there’s a high chance Tommy will strike there. What follows is a lot of nonsense until Tommy finally shows up and starts slaughtering these despicable people.
This is a Christmas horror film shot on a shoestring budget by a group of friends, which somehow managed to get a DVD release. In reality, it’s the kind of movie that only those involved in its making—and perhaps some of their friends—could enjoy.
With a title like The Christmas Season Massacre, you’d expect at least a bit of holiday spirit, but no. This movie has almost nothing to do with Christmas. There’s some vague talk about how Tommy didn’t get the Christmas gift he wanted as a child, plus some jingle bells and decorations that appear whenever the killer shows up. The film was even shot in the summer, so don’t expect any festive vibes at all.
Simply put, everything about this movie is bad. Terrible script, terrible acting, and terrible direction. The crew behind the film clearly realized they couldn’t make a scary movie, so they went all-in on trying to create a comedy with gore. The problem is, to make a comedy, it actually has to be funny. When you don’t laugh even once during the entire runtime, the filmmakers have failed. Sure, I’d bet the group making the film had fun during production, but that doesn’t help the viewers who have no connection to the cast and crew.
The one positive thing about the movie is that it’s short. They even added a bunch of so-called “bloopers” to pad the runtime to 70 minutes, but even those are dull.
