Blacklist comes from Blackpool in England and plays thrash metal. Previously, the band released the album “Disciples Of Time” in 2021. When the first song starts, I immediately think of Slayer. But it quickly becomes clear that Blacklist incorporates elements from many bands in their music. You can hear riffs from groove metal and orchestration reminiscent of Cradle of Filth in several songs. The vocals are also varied, ranging from Death Angel to Biohazard and Skitliv. A good mix, in other words. I greatly appreciate the variation in the music, but there are songs and parts here that don’t always appeal to me as much. However, they are in the minority. Some of the band’s more mid-tempo songs, like “Kill The Coroner,” I find quite cool. Tough riffs and lots of great drumming. This band definitely knows their stuff, and it’s good to hear a thrash metal band that has found its own distinctiveness.
Released independent on 2 august 2024.
